Construction Notice: Winter Show Road – Storm Sewer 50

Road Closure on Winter Show Road from 4th Avenue SW to Stoudt Ross Ford & Grandstay Hotel shared driveway.

Starting on September 9th, 2019 Wintershow Road will be closed from 4th Ave SW to the shared driveway, which will also be closed, of Stoudt Ross Ford and the Grandstay Hotel. The West access to Stoudt Ross Ford will remain open and the East access to the Grandstay hotel will also remain open during this time. The closure will remain in effect for two weeks until September 23rd, 2019.

A truck route detour will be in effect during the duration of the closure. The detour will run from 8th Ave SW to Main Street and then back up to Wintershow Road via 12th Ave SE.

Updated maps for all road closures will be posted on the City of Valley City’s webage (https://www.valleycity.us/) when they are taking affect. If you have any questions regarding the project please contact KLJ at (701) 845-4980.

8th Avenue SW & Winter Show Road Construction Impacts

Construction is transitioning to Winter Show Road for the Storm Sewer Improvement District 50 project. The first phase of construction included a shoulder closure along 8th Avenue Southwest and the westbound off ramp reduction of speed at the 292 interchange of I-94.

Construction will transition to Winter Show Road east of 4th Avenue Southwest to 2nd Avenue Southeast in the south boulevard. The south shoulder will be closed for safety and traffic will be shifted north. One access to the Grand Stay and Stoudt Ross Ford will always be open.

Upcoming Street Closures on Central Avenue N

The concrete pavement repair in Valley City continues along Central Avenue N.

Beginning Monday, August 26, 2019, Central Avenue will be closed between 6th St N and 9th St N. The intersections at 6th St N and 9th St N will remain open at this time.

Beginning Tuesday, September 3, 2019, Central Avenue will be closed to traffic from the entrance to Hanna Field north to 12th Street N. Access to the Sheyenne Care Center and Hanna Field Parking lot will be provided from the south. Access to the residential area north of 12th Street, including Central Avenue, 14th St NW and Courts A, B & C will be provided to the north and along 3rd Ave NW. Traffic along 12th Street North will be limited to one lane and will be controlled by traffic signals during this time. Additional updates will be provided as needed.

Closings & Garbage Schedule: Labor Day

Office & Transfer Station Closings:

  • Transfer Station will be closed Saturday, August 31 and remained closed Monday, September 2.
  • City Hall & Public Works will be closed Monday, September 2.

Garbage Schedule: Week of September 2

  • Monday’s route will be picked up on Tuesday, September 3.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday’s route will be picked up on Wednesday, September 4.
  • Regular schedule resumes on Thursday, September 5.

August 20-21: Mosquito Spraying

Valley City Public works will spray for mosquitoes on Tuesday, August 20th beginning approximately 8 pm and if needed Wednesday, August 21st in the morning, weather permitting.

Parents are advised to keep children and pets out of the streets and away from the spray machines. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in the area of the operation.

09/17/2019: 2020 Preliminary Budget Hearing

The Preliminary Budget of the City of Valley City, North Dakota for the calendar year ending December 31, 2020, has been completed and is on file in the City Auditor’s Office where it may be examined. The City Commission will hold a public hearing at 5:00 P.M., September 17, 2019, at City Hall in Valley City, North Dakota for the purpose of receiving comments from the citizens of Valley City. The final adoption of the budget and fixing the annual tax will be on October 1, 2019.

This hearing is held for the opportunity of the citizens to participate with respect to city budgets. Any taxpayer may appear and discuss any item of expenditure or enter objections to any item or the amount therein.
